Bournemouth transfer news: Cherries ‘want to reunite’ Andoni Iraola with Real Madrid defender

Bournemouth are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid left-back Fran Garcia this summer.

The Cherries are bracing themselves for the potential departure of Milos Kerkez despite the fact that he is under contract until the summer of 2028.

A recent report claims that Kerez will make a decision over his future at the end of the season, amid interest from Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City.

With Kerkez expected to leave, Bournemouth are scouring the market for possible candidates to replace the Hungarian international ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Bournemouth keen on Garcia

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Bournemouth are considering Garcia as a potential option for the summer transfer window.

The report claims that Andoni Iraola is keen to reunite with a player he previously coached during his time at Rayo Vallecano.

The Real Madrid academy product spent three seasons working under Iraola in Vallecas, contributing five goals and eight assists in 122 competitive appearances.

Garcia’s performances at Rayo earned him a move back to Real Madrid in the summer of 2023 after Los Blancos opted to exercise their buy option for the 25-year-old.

The defender has made 74 appearances since he returned to Los Blancos, but there is some doubt as to whether he will still be at the club next season.

Garcia and Ferland Mendy have struggled to make the left-back spot their own, and it seems that Real Madrid will try to sign a new first-choice option in the summer window.

As a result, Real Madrid are unsure whether to keep Garcia and could look to entertain offers at the end of the season.

There is a belief that the Spanish giants will demand at least €25m (£21.3m) to part ways with the defender this summer.

While he could be nearing the exit door, Garcia is set to start in Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, with Mendy unlikely to feature from the first whistle even if he proves his fitness following a spell on the sidelines.
